Fave Finds For Home: Eco Relics-Jacksonville

I don’t know about you, but I love fun vintage finds! I love stopping into vintage and antique stores to see if I can find any pieces that might be a good addition to my home, or to just look for inspiration that might spark some decorating ideas. So when my friend recommended that I check out Eco Relics in Jacksonville, FL, I headed over to their warehouse to scour their inventory.

I pulled into the driveway and parked around back. I saw a large collection of wrought iron fences outside, and a lot of reclaimed wood that would be great for beams on a ceiling. I walked up to the unassuming looking entrance, where an industrial sized fan is blowing and a giant cage housing rabbits greets you as soon as you step inside. Once you cross that threshold, you’re hit with a wave of nostalgia. The smell of vintage artifacts reminded me of my grandparents’ old toy store that they used to own when I was a little girl. The warehouse is lined with giant metal shelves around the perimeter, housing anything and everything you can think of-from trunks to skis, to rusted old tricycles. There are rows of shelves running down the center of the warehouse, and they are stocked by category with items such as reclaimed wood, raw wood table legs, tiles, hardware, plumbing fittings, vintage lighting, furniture, doors, windows, old records, vintage appliances, and so much more.

Reclaimed wood.

Vintage doors.

These would make awesome wall art! Or you could find a matching pair and place behind a bed, in lieu of a headboard.

Awesome reclaimed wood. How cool would these be as a table top?

All sorts of hardware, including door knobs and handles. You can find tons of inspiration or the perfect details for a DIY refinishing of a dresser or piece of furniture with drawers or doors.

I’m pretty sure they have more hardware, screws, nails, nuts, bolts, and springs than Home Depot.

Unless you don’t mind a little rust in your food, these vintage mixers are pretty cool and would serve as great (non-useful) decor in a farmhouse-style kitchen!

Luggage, anyone? I can guarantee there will be no mixups at the baggage carousel with these beauties!

There’s something really charming about this vintage stove.

I totally get why people in older generations had really bad teeth. I would avoid going to the dentist at all costs too, if I had to sit in this dentist chair!

Wouldn’t your meals be so much happier if you had this life-sized Ronald McDonald in your kitchen?

Windows for dayssss. These are great wall art pieces. You can use them to frame prints or photos and paint them with chalk paint or sand them down and give them a rustic natural wood-look.

Really cool columns for front porches. Or if your decor inspiration is My Big Fat Greek Wedding…

This piece reminds of similar style furniture in my grandmother’s house. I can see someone repainting this white and highlighting the details with gold accents. But it’s also beautiful in its natural color.

I was so tempted to buy these lockers for my son’s room, until I realized that I couldn’t get the door to open. I like to think I’m pretty good at fixing things, but metal is just not my forte.

I couldn’t find the table legs that I was looking for, but thankfully they didn’t put me in this chair when I asked for assistance in trying to find them!

And here’s their security guard. He was asleep on the job. (He’s not for sale).

Overall, Eco Relics is an awesome vintage treasure trove. I had a great time walking down memory lane and seeing so many old pieces that I remembered from my youth. If you are looking for something unique to add to your home decor, or you are taking on a DIY project, definitely check this place out! It’s very similar to my old favorite place, Sarasota Architectural Salvage, on the other coast of Florida. I can’t wait to take my dad here, I know he’s going to love seeing all of these great vintage finds!

Growing up, we always received every catalog in the mail known to man. From Ballard Designs to Lands End to Frontgate to Oriental Trading. Going to the mailbox would result in a visual treat, like Christmas for your fantasy life spread across the pages of these well-styled publications. We would pile the catalogs on the kitchen island and I would sit and look through each one, carefully studying the items and admiring the offerings. I used to play a game with myself whereby I would ask if I were forced to buy one thing from each page, what would it be? Sometimes it would be a struggle, while other times I would want everything on each page. Obviously, I never acted on this game, but it’s always fun to escape for a few minutes-much like escaping into the pages of a book.
